Job Opening - Deputy Commissioner of Development

The City of New Rochelle is seeking an experienced professional to join a diverse team to promote economic development in the City. Reporting directly to the Commissioner of Development, the candidate will serve as Executive Director of the IDA and be responsible for major development projects through all development phases, administer the City’s sustainability initiatives and manage a professional staff. The candidate will oversee the Planning Division & Planning Board as well as other Boards and Commissions.

Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of experience working in a related field with similar responsibilities. The candidate should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field, such as business or public administration, planning, real estate or finance. A Master’s degree in a similar field is preferred.

Department of Development

The New Rochelle Department of Development is responsible for directing the City’s economic initiatives and planning functions, including negotiations with developers, oversight of professional planners, and interaction with community partners, such as the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District.  In addition, the Department of Development encompasses the City’s Bureau of Buildings, Parking Facilities, Section 8 Office, and Sustainability Coordinator, while also monitoring compliance with federal programs such as CDBG and HOME.
