Forensic Unit
Services
The Forensic Unit is under the command of a Criminal Investigations Division supervisor and it performs the following services:
  • Fingerprint all arrested persons
  • Maintain criminal identification records
  • Process crime scenes for physical evidence
  • Provide photographic services to the Department for criminal and non-criminal incidents

Designated personnel assigned to the General Investigation Unit, Property Theft Unit, and Special Investigation Unit are trained to perform the forensic function. These personnel are assigned to the Forensic Unit on a rotating basis to provide the Department with forensic services.

A civilian clerk is assigned to the Unit Monday through Friday during business hours to assist with fingerprinting duties and to perform various clerical tasks.
