The Municipal Maintenance Garage is
responsible for maintenance and repair of all City-owned
motor vehicles and motorized equipment except fire
apparatus. It directly purchases necessary automotive
repair parts and supplies, prepares specifications
for new motorized equipment, advises municipal agencies
on proposed vehicle purchases, maintains vehicle operating
and repair cost records, and investigates and evaluates
damage to City and public vehicles involved in automotive
accidents. It provides maintenance service for Board
of Education and Library vehicles on a reimbursable
basis.
Each year the Central Garage performs approximately
2,900 repairs.
