Plant a Tree in your Neighborhood

The City of New Rochelle has been a proud Tree City since 1991. Trees contribute to their environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water and preserving soil. The City of New Rochelle’s goals for tree planting are outlined in GreeNR, the City’s sustainability plan.

You can plant a tree for FREE! There is no cost to property owners that request tree planting to be done by the City within the roadside easements. There are also no fees for homeowners themselves to plant trees within the road easements adjacent to their homes but DPW permission is required.

The City maintains responsibility and will provide the basic arboricultural maintenance for trees. Residents can assist with maintenance of their tree by following these guidelines. General grounds maintenance remains the responsibility of the homeowners.
