Grandpas United is a multigenerational mentorship initiative that pairs local youth with volunteer granddads who offer not only their time and attention but also their vast experience both professionally and for life in general. The program, despite being relatively new and unique, has been a phenomenal success so far, attracting as many as 70 grandfathers serving many hundreds of kids between the ages of 8 and 21.
The mission of Grandpas United of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau is to utilize the talents, skills and experiences of our Grandpas to improve our community. We aspire to serve as male role models and mentors to enhance the growth and development of our youth, while sharing our talents and experiences with one another, enabling us to maintain our dignity, self-respect and self-worth. The program is currently seeking grandpas throughout the city of New Rochelle to volunteer to mentor our youth.
New Rochelle Grandpas participated in several events such as Juneteenth, Sports Clinic at Lincoln Park, Health Walk, Horseshoe Group at Lincoln Park, and the Thanksgiving Community Dinner.
