Ana Lacher
17 year old New Rochelle High School Senior, on her experience as part of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau
"My experience with the New Rochelle Youth Bureau and Youth Council has been a wonderful one. I learned a lot about community and working with my peers through my experiences.
Although I sometimes left our bi-weekly meetings feeling as if I had accomplished nothing, I learned what it was like to be the behind the scenes action putting on an event. Together my peers and I did all the work needed to put on an event that would give back to our community. I learned how much work was needed as well as time, patience, and cooperation. Even when we crossed paths or got under each others feet the end result was totally worth it.
New Rochelle Youth Council has been a great way for me to not only get involved in events in my community but also give back. My time on Youth Council and working with the Youth Bureau has been a great experience."

Michelle Prakash
14 year old New Rochelle High School Sophomore, on her experience as part of the Network Youth Leadership Program
"My name is Michelle Prakash, and I worked for the city of New Rochelle through the Youth Bureau during the summer of 2009.
My experience as an employee for the city of New Rochelle has been a positive and illuminating one. Working for the city of New Rochelle has helped me reach my full potential, by providing me with an employment that was educational as well as eye opening. During the 6 week period, I was placed at the Ludington Adult Day Care Center of Sound Shore Medical Center with two other employees. Through this job I have gotten hands on experience, and it has given me a greater sense of responsibility. It also taught me to appreciate my parents more. I have learned how to think creatively, and how important each member is to the New Rochelle community. It has allowed me to use my past volunteer experiences at my church, school, and Sound Shore Medical Center Pharmacy."

Brooke Goldstein
17 year old New Rochelle High School Senior, on her experience as part of the New Rochelle Youth Council
"During the past three years of high school, Youth Council has played an essential role in my extra curricular activities. My brother encouraged me to get involved my freshman year. He couldn't stop speaking about the events he put on when he was once a member. After being accepted I had to the ability to participate in these same events. Helping families during Give-a-Gift or putting smiles on the faces of the Senior Citizens of New Rochelle at Senior Citizen Prom is an unforgettable experience. Having the ability to be a member of New Rochelle Youth Council facilitated not only my involvement but also dozens of other kids’ involvements in the New Rochelle Community. It is sad to say that this is my final year in the organization. I am glad to have had this wonderful opportunity to help the community and hope the Youth Council continues strong for many years to come."

Jordan Sporn

"Youth Council has taught me to reach out to the community and to give to those who don't have. I have worked with people from the ages of two to 80, and each one has given me a new perspective of the person I am now. Youth Council has given me a new outlook on life and will continue to help me grow into the man I will become."
