[ARCHIVED] Updated Streets: Smoke Testing in New Rochelle for next week

The following flyer is being circulated in impacted areas: PLEASE READ NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS SMOKE TESTING OF SEWERS AS REQUIRED BY NEW YORK STATE, SEWERS IN YOUR AREA WILL BE SMOKE TESTED FOR LEAKS DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS, WEATHER PERMITTING. A LIGHT-GRAY TRACING SMOKE IS BLOWN INTO THE MUNICIPAL SEWER TO LOCATE LEAKS. THE SMOKE IS NOT HARMFUL AND SHOULD NOT ENTER YOUR PREMISES UNLESS THERE IS A LEAK PRESENT. YOUR COOPERATION IS REQUESTED TO NOTIFY PERSONS IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD OF THESE TESTS; YOUR COOPERATION IS APPRECIATED IF YOU DETECT SMOKE IN YOUR BUILDING, JUST OPEN A WINDOW. THE SMOKE WILL DISSIPATE QUICKLY. ALSO NOTIFY THE MEN IN THE STREET THAT ARE CONDUCTING THE TEST THAT, SMOKE ENTERED YOUR BUILDING. TO PREVENT SMOKE FROM COMING UP THROUGH BASEMENT FLOOR DRAINS, POUR WATER INTO THE DRAINS TO MAKE CERTAIN TRAPS ARE FULL. SINK TRAPS AND OTHER PLUMBING FIXTURES, ESPECIALLY IN SPARE BATHROOMS, SHOULD ALSO BE CHECKED TO MAKE CERTAIN TRAPS CONTAIN WATER. CLEAN-OUT PLUGS SHOULD BE TIGHTLY SEALED. DURING THIS TESTING, YOU MAY ALSO NOTICE SMOKE COMING FROM DOWN SPOUTS OR FROM PLUMBING VENT STACKS ON THE ROOF OF YOUR HOUSE OR YOUR NEIGHBOR’S HOUSE. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT THE CITY OF NEW ROCHELLE AT 235-4029 THE FOLLOWING STREETS WILL BE TESTED ON THE WEEK OF 11/28/16:
