The New Rochelle Youth Bureau hosted their annual Youth Employment Recognition Ceremony on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Seventy-three youth residents, between the ages of 14-21, were recognized and presented with certificates for their summer employment. The youth bureau provided summer jobs in three programs: Network Youth Leadership Program, TANF Summer Employment Program, and Potential Candidates Summer Intern Program.
"This ceremony recognizes the accomplishments of our youth employees before their families and our work-site partners and lets them know how valued they are by us," said Youth Bureau’s Executive Director, Kelly Johnson.
The young employees were placed at various worksites throughout the City including New Rochelle City Council and City Administration, City School District of New Rochelle, Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, Allstate, Garito Manor at Union Square, Glen Island Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation, Monroe College, New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, New Rochelle Public Library, NRBA-Summer Basketball League, RiskBlock insurance, Sutton Park Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
The tremendous success of this year’s programs was made possible through funding from HUD, City of New Rochelle and Westchester County. It was also supported in part by NYS Office of Children and Family Services, Westchester Putnam Workforce Investment Board, New Rochelle Department of Development’s CDBG program, Youth Bureau Board of Commissioners and the Office of the City Manager.
