Volunteer New York! with the New Rochelle Council of Community Services Develop #NEWROSTRONG Volunteer Opportunities To Strengthen City

New Rochelle Empowers Community Members To Be Part Of The Solution And Effect Positive Local Change Through Volunteerism

Volunteer New York! and the New Rochelle Council of Community Services, which together have relationships with dozens of New Rochelle not-for-profits, have teamed up to harness the city’s positive energy and to connect volunteers to local needs.

“All of us working together is what makes New Ro Strong,” said New Rochelle Mayor Bramson.

Through the Council of Community Services the #newrostrong campaign will include actionable ways for community members to deepen community togetherness, build cultural competence, foster mediation & conflict resolution, and increase local mentoring/safe spaces.

“We are grateful to Volunteer New York! for providing a vehicle for folks to register as interested participants in the effort to build community,” said New Rochelle Council of Community Services president, Stephanie Tomei. “New Rochelle is a special place with many solution-seeking residents. It is wonderful to have positive support from thoughtful community members and we are working earnestly to provide opportunities to involve them.”

Currently there are over 50 active volunteer opportunities to support local New Rochelle nonprofits available on In the coming weeks new opportunities that are part of the #newrostrong campaign will be specifically tagged and highlighted.

“I want to thank Volunteer New York! for creating this page and offering our residents a way to respond positively and more meaningfully to the events that have occurred in New Rochelle in recent weeks,” said New Rochelle Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Osborne. "There is no better way to help our young people than to create strong supports for them across the community, and coordinated volunteer efforts are a vital part of caring for all New Rochelle kids. I encourage residents to visit the new page and join in the activities to help keep New Ro Strong.”
