[ARCHIVED] Suez annual hydrant flushing program begins

Suez2018

The City of New Rochelle’s water provider, Suez Environmental, began its annual fire hydrant maintenance and water main flushing program in New Rochelle on May 3. The work will take place between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM. As part of this work, SUEZ employees will let water flow from the hydrants to remove harmless minerals that collect in the water mains. During this time, customers may temporarily experience low water pressure or discolored water. While the water is safe, customers may prefer to wait until the water runs clear before drinking or washing clothes or dishes. Running the cold water for several minutes typically clears the lines.
