Good news for metered parking customers: paperless receipts are now an option.
Beginning this month, parking customers will be able to receive their parking receipts via text message on their smart phone. This new feature- consistent with the goals of GreeNR, the City’s sustainability plan- will reduce paper usage and help alleviate the litter and waste of uncollected tickets. Text receipts can also assist in reducing the down time Muni Meters experience as a result of paper jams.
After a successful pilot program launched this summer by the Department of Development in coordination with LAZ Parking, this feature will now be rolled out to Muni Meters citywide. Customers will still have the option to choose between a paper parking receipt, or no receipt at all. Text receipts will include the same information that customers are accustomed to seeing on paper receipts and will be accepted in City Court proceedings.
