[ARCHIVED] Help Shape the Future of Hudson Park: Take the Survey!

The City of New Rochelle’s Department of Parks and Recreation is in the process of creating a comprehensive master plan for Hudson Park, the City’s premier waterfront open space. In conjunction with Stantec consultants, the department is conducting site research and analysis as well as public outreach.

The first public meeting, held November 12 at City Hall, brought dozens who shared their thoughts on improvements with the architects and design team. Now, an online survey in English and Spanish features questions on upgrades needed and space utilization to further refine priorities. Residents of all ages are encouraged to take the survey, which will be live until January 19.

“As part of our planning process, we are exploring ideas for new amenities and updates to better serve our residents,” said Parks and Recreation Commissioner Bill Zimmermann. “Our goal is to create the best possible park space for generations to enjoy.”

Hudson Park and Beach are located at the south end of New Rochelle on Hudson Park Road. It features a grassy recreation area with a playground, a music bandshell, seating area, newly renovated bathhouse and two bathing beaches. It is home to seasonal activities, concerts and events, including the New Rochelle Council on the Arts’ Summer Sounds Concerts, July 4th Fireworks, the Lighted Boat Parade and the Snapper Fishing Derby, and is a popular destination all year long.

The next public meeting will be held on January 30 at 6:30 PM at the New Rochelle Public Library. For more information visit www.newrochelleny.com/Parks
