[ARCHIVED] City Update May 8

Robocall sent May 8:

This is Mayor Noam Bramson, with an update for May 8th.

To show New Rochelle’s strength and determination throughout this public health crisis, the City is offering New Ro Strong lawn signs that can be proudly displayed on any property. To request your own sign, please visit newrochelleny.com/lawnsignform, give us your address and a volunteer will deliver a sign to your door. It’s that simple. The signs are free, but you also have the option of making a voluntary contribution to the City’s NourishALL food security program.

And while we’re showing our support for each other, please remember to clap or make some noise tonight at 7pm in honor of our essential workers and health care providers.

Now, to repeat prior information:

A new walk-through coronavirus testing center is open Monday to Friday on Lockwood Avenue, across from Montefiore Hospital. This is for diagnostic testing only, not for antibody tests. Appointments are required, so to schedule a test, please call the State hotline at 1-888-364-3065.

If you need transportation to the testing center, free rides are available through the City’s CircuitNR electric shuttle, which can be accessed by downloading the Ride Circuit app to a smartphone.

Finally, an important reminder that face masks or coverings are required in any public setting where physical distancing is impractical. We recommend having a mask with you whenever you go out, so that you can put it on as needed.

While the number of active infections in New Rochelle is coming down, there are still hundreds of COVID-19 cases in our community, and all of us must continue to act responsibly.

For additional resources or to learn how you can help, donate, or volunteer, please visit newrochelleny.com/newrostrong. For general information, visit newrochelleny.com/coronavirus. And remember to order your lawn sign at newrochelleny.com/lawnsignform.

Thank you for listening. Let’s continue to stand together until this crisis is fully behind us.
