[ARCHIVED] Hugh A. Doyle Center Prepares for Reopening on Monday, Sept. 14

HAD workers 1

After a nearly six month closure due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center will reopen to the senior community with limited services on Monday, September 14.

“Our Office for the Aging and Parks & Recreation staff have worked hard to provide the safest environment possible for New Rochelle’s senior community,” said Executive Director Phillis Maucieri, noting the installation of plexiglass in all administrative offices, plexiglass throughout the dining room and the addition of hand sanitizing stations. Limited capacity will be enforced and all furniture within the building has been arranged to comply with proper social distancing protocol. The facility has also drastically increased the sanitizing cleanings for the facility

Activities and recreation will be relocated outside whenever possible, but Bingo and videos will be inside. All meals, including lunches served onsite, will be grab-n-go. A valid Parks Passport is required for entry and appropriate face coverings must be worn in the facility. Virtual exercise classes will continue to air on local public access television channels Verizon 28 and Optimum 75.

Additionally, local grocery shopping from senior buildings and other transportation services will resume at a 50% capacity. The Barber Shop is closed indefinitely. All long distance trips remain suspended.
