With many traditional Halloween events cancelled this year due to the ongoing pandemic, the New Rochelle Department of Parks and Recreation is proud to present a new opportunity for family fun: “Scarecrows on the Sound”, October 31, at Davenport Park. From 10AM till noon at socially-distanced stations throughout the park, New Rochelle families and small groups of up to 8 people are invited to bring a homemade-scarecrow head, outfit and accessories to create their own custom scarecrow using straw, hay, twine and stakes provided by Parks & Rec. Scarecrows can then be taken home or donated for display at the Hugh Doyle Senior Center and other City facilities.
The cost for the event is $10 and pre-registration by mail or in-person is required. Download a flyer and registration form at www.newrochelleny.com/parks. Spaces are limited and on a first-come, first served basis. Face masks required.
