New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Hosts Virtual Holiday Lighting Thursday December 3rd

NR Holiday Lighting Flyer 12-3-2020

The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce together with the City of New Rochelle and the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (NRBID) will be presenting a Virtual Holiday Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 3 at 5 PM.

Mayor Noam Bramson will be on hand to lead the countdown - lighting both the City’s Christmas Tree and Menorah. This year’s event will feature musical performances by New Rochelle Artist in Residency Gian Faraone.

“These challenging times make annual ceremonies all the more meaningful. Although this year’s lighting is virtual, we invite families to visit Memorial Plaza in the coming weeks to take photos and enjoy the spirit of the season,” said Mayor Bramson.

The Holiday Lighting Event is a New Rochelle tradition marking the start of the holiday shopping season. “This year‘s event will be different, but it still celebrates the same season of hope and the start of the holiday shopping season. Now, more than ever, our New Rochelle local businesses need your support. Holiday gift purchases, gift card purchases, holiday supplies, or catering by our local New Rochelle restaurants will all help our small businesses,” said NR Chamber President and owner of the Beechmont Tavern Rob Hayes.

Added Marc Jerome, Chairman, New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (NRBID) "Our New Rochelle Downtown business owners are the bright lights in our holiday season this year. They have come through 2020 with dedication, creativity and hard work. May they--and our community members--blaze the way for an abundant holiday time and a New Year filled with hope.”

The Virtual Holiday Lighting Event will be streamed live on the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page @NewRochelleChamber and will be rebroadcast throughout the week on NRTV Optimum Channel 75 and Verizon Channel 28 and On Demand at www.newrochelleny.com - see guides for scheduled times.

In continuation of an annual tradition and to promote holiday shopping in New Rochelle, the City is offering two hours of free holiday parking in certain municipal lots from December 1-31, from 9AM to 9PM. Off-street parking fees will be waived during this time in the following lots: City Hall, Garden Street South, Lawn Avenue, Library, Library South, North Avenue @Thruway, Prospect Street and Union Avenue.
