After a one-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, two signature events will return to the City of New Rochelle in September: The Spark the Sound Fireworks are scheduled for Labor Day weekend on Friday evening, September 3rd; and the New Rochelle Street Fair on Sunday, September 19 at New Rochelle City Hall.
“We are delighted to bring back these two popular, signature community events, especially after the difficult year we have all experienced,” said Parks and Recreation Commissioner Bill Zimmermann.
The Spark the Sound Fireworks, normally held on Independence Day July 4th, will light the sky on Friday, September 3rd starting at 9:30 PM. Two weeks later, the Eighth Annual New Rochelle Street Fair will be held on Sunday, September 19 from 11AM to 5PM at New Rochelle City Hall property. The fair is being scheduled one week later than usual in deference to the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
The New Rochelle Street Fair Committee is offering Early Bird Special with rates to all vendors (out-of-town and New Rochelle-based). The deadline for Early Bird pricing is Thursday, July 1st and Monday, August 2nd for regular registration. Interested exhibitors are encouraged to register early since the spaces are on a first-acceptance basis. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, for the Street Fair event as well as the popular Beer Garden feature.
“The New Rochelle Street Fair is the perfect venue for vendors and businesses throughout the metropolitan area to showcase their talent, designs and services to residents and visitors,” said Commissioner Zimmermann.
Since its inception in 2013, the New Rochelle Street Fair has grown to become one of the largest events in the Lower Hudson Valley, transforming one of the City’s most vibrant corridors into a fun-filled festival with artists, crafters, entertainment and an international assortment of food. It is presented by the City of New Rochelle in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, BID, and Volunteer NY!.
The New Rochelle Street Fair will follow CDC’s safety guidelines. To register for the Fair, download an application from the City’s website: www.newrochelleny.com/streetfair. For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at email@example.com or call (914) 654-2087.
