City officials joined the LGBTQ Advisory Committee and New Rochelle Pride for their first annual New Rochelle Pride Day at City Hall on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. This makes their second in-person Pride month event, following the flag-raising that was held on June 1st.
New Rochelle Pride Day included remarks from LGBTQ Staff & Community Liaison Sam Gomez, Mayor Noam Bramson, Rev. Jennie Telley, LGBTQ Advisory Committee member Charles Burke and LGBTQ Chair Andy Buder.
The event also included participation from the New Rochelle Youth Bureau, The New Rochelle Public Library, The Humane Society of Westchester, The LOFT LGBTQ Community Center, Narayan Pharmacy & New England Fertility as well as treats from Baked in Color!
The Advisory Committee was formed in 2019 in order to advocate for the LGBTQ Community. Through their efforts, the City of New Rochelle was awarded a score of 103 in the Human Right’s Campaign Municipality Index Score which grades cities in the US-based of LGBTQ Rights, Supports, and friendliness.
