This is the City of New Rochelle with storm recovery information for Wednesday, September 8.

Here’s what’s new for today:

Comprehensive resources and links can now be found at  This site will be updated on a regular basis.

As many residents go through the difficult process of cleaning out their homes and properties, the Fuller Center for Housing is offering assistance. If you need help, text Jim Killoran at 914-406-3357 or email To support the Fuller Center’s capacity – as either a volunteer or financially – go to, call 914-636-8335, or drop off contractor bags, bleach, tools, gloves, masks and food to Fuller’s office at 659 Main Street in New Rochelle.

Regional waste transfer facilities are overwhelmed throughout Westchester, which may slow down some trash collection activities.  Even so, DPW will continue making repeat visits to impacted neighborhoods through the week and into the weekend, if necessary.  Remember to consult for information about proper disposal of different items.

For households who were not impacted by flooding, we ask that, if possible, you refrain from putting out normal household and kitchen waste this week, so that all space and resources can be focused on storm debris and recovery.

Catch basins and culverts in flood prone areas have been cleared in advance of the rainfall forecast for tonight.  Please still be aware of the potential for additional flash floods.

Representatives from the Bureau of Buildings are visiting impacted neighborhoods to evaluate conditions and provide information.

Finally, unity day activities, which had been planned for Sunday, September 12, are cancelled as a result of present circumstances.

Now, to repeat information from earlier this week:

As we rebuild, the City will waive all fees for repair, disposal, or construction, including electrical and plumbing fees, resulting from storm damage.

Residents can apply for federal aid by visiting or or by calling FEMA at 1-800-621-3362.  Residents should still be in touch with their insurance companies and document losses with photographs, receipts, and invoices.

Again, the City will continue providing additional information on a continuous basis at, and you can also check our social media accounts for updates.
