When it comes to Halloween treats this year, everyone will be thrilled on Saturday October 30 (rain date Sunday October 31) at 10am when the New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District (NRBID) resumes its fun event for young children-- the Annual Main Street Merchant’s Urchin Costume Parade.
Young children who are elementary school age and below will be able to join in the free holiday Costume Parade which will be followed by free Pumpkin Painting Event for Parade Participants. The Parade route will begin at Downtown’s New Roc City going to North Avenue to Main Street to Memorial Highway ending at Library Green’s Ruby Dee Park for a Pumpkin Painting Event for Parade participants.
As it has in the past, the NRBID is working with Events Manager Nina Shawn Gainor and her team of local students and residents who will be guiding a procession that features children in the latest costume creativity. NRBID’s Partners in the event include New Rochelle Parks and Recreation Department, New Rochelle Public Library and the City of New Rochelle.
The schedule is:
- 9:45am Line up begins at New Roc City
- 9:50am Photo Op for Parade Kickoff at New Roc City
- 10:00am Parade begins route to Library Green’s Ruby Dee Park
- Post parade Free Pumpkin Painting Event for Parade participants At Library Green’s Ruby Dee Park
Parade and Pumpkin Painting Event protocols are:
- Current CDC protocol for outdoor gatherings will be adhered to.
- Cloth masks for children over age 2 should be part of costume.
- Halloween masks are NOT a substitute for cloth masks
- Social distance while walking in the parade route and at Pumpkin Painting Event.
- Pumpkins and treats for Parade participants
