On November 28th, 2021 at about 2:25pm, New Rochelle Police responded to Harmon Avenue near the intersection of Green Place on a suspicious vehicle complaint. The vehicle in question was found and the officers noticed that there was a fake license plate on the vehicle as well as 4 occupants in the vehicle. When the police approached the vehicle to investigate, it sped off, over the curb and onto the grass of Feeney Park, towards a staircase that leads to the dead end of Lockwood Avenue. All 4 occupants abandoned the car by the staircase and fled on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, 3 out of the 4 occupants were apprehended.
All three suspects apprehended were male juveniles. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle used by the juveniles was indeed stolen out of New Rochelle on Friday November 26th, two days earlier.
The three male juveniles were charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd Degree. All three suspects were given appearance tickets and released to their parents.
