May 15 – 21, 2022, is National Public Works Week, a time to recognize the essential services provided by Public Works Departments nationwide. Our Public Works Department provides the residents of New Rochelle with essential services that maintain the City's critical infrastructure and safety.
The theme for this year's National Public Works Week is "Ready and Resilient," which highlights the ability of these professionals to perform regular public works duties and be ready at a moment's notice to react as first responders during natural disasters and overcome trials seen in the field.
“Our staff in the Department of Public Works provides essential services all year long, throughout every season and in every kind of weather,” noted Commissioner James Moran. "This year’s theme recognizes how integral their contribution is, across all of our bureaus.”
The Department consists of eight bureaus: Engineering, Traffic Services, Forestry, Sanitation, Sewers & Drains, and Streets & Highways, each fulfilling a critical function.
The City will be highlighting these important services on social media during Public Works Week.
