This is the City of New Rochelle with some important service reminders and an invitation to community events.

In observance of Juneteenth, City Hall will be closed on Monday, and, next week, DPW will follow a holiday collection schedule, with garbage pickup on Tuesday in the North End and Wednesday in the South End, then Commingled Recycling on Thursday in the North End and Friday in the South End.

A reminder that gas-powered leaf blowers are prohibited throughout the summer.  To report violations, please contact the Police Department at 914-654-2300.

As summer gets underway, enjoy the season with some terrific community events.  Juneteenth celebrations are planned for eight different venues, including a flag-raising this Sunday at City Hall that will include a jazz concert, art exhibit, food vendors, and marketplace.  For a full schedule, visit the Facebook page TLPCJuneteenthCelebration.  On Saturday, the Thomas Paine Center will open with a ribbon-cutting followed by a Colonial Fair.

Ongoing activities include the farmers market at Paine Cottage every Friday through the fall, LL Bean Discovery classes at Five Islands Park, and Empire Ultimate Disc League home games at City Park.  Hudson Park Beach is open on weekends now and full-time starting June 27.  The Pinebrook Tennis Courts are finally reopened and ready for play.  And mark your calendar for the Spark the Sound fireworks on Monday, July 4.

Visit newrochelleny.com for all the details about these any many other programs and events.
