The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has awarded the City of New Rochelle Department of Finance the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2022 budget. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents the commitment of the City and Finance Department staff to produce a budget document that meets nationally recognized criteria as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and communications device.
“We commend our Finance Department for this notable award, which recognizes both the excellence of our budget document and its value as a template for others to follow,” said City Manager Charles B. Strome, III.
Finance Commissioner Edward Ritter noted, “I am extremely proud of our Finance Department and appreciate the efforts of our staff to produce a budget document that meets the highest standards in government accounting.”
There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted on GFOA’s website. Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
