On May 9th, 2023, at about 12:18pm, New Rochelle Police were notified by the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center that a stolen vehicle had entered New Rochelle and was heading into the Home Depot parking lot on Weyman Avenue. New Rochelle Detectives responded and located the vehicle, which was occupied by three people. When Detectives attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects initially tried to evade but quickly stopped to flee on foot. The vehicle was left in ‘reverse’ when the driver fled, and the vehicle reversed and collided into an unmarked police car causing minor injury to the Detective driving that vehicle. Two male suspects were caught after a brief foot pursuit into Home Depot, and a third suspect, a female, did not flee and was caught with the vehicle. All suspects were juveniles and were not injured during this incident. The injured Detective sought medical treatment for minor injuries to his shoulder and back and returned to work.
ARRESTED:
- 2 Male Juveniles, both 15 years of age, from New York, NY.
- 1 Female Juvenile, 15 years of age, from the Bronx, NY.
- Their names are being withheld due to their Juvenile status.

- NYS Penal Law 120.06 Assault 2nd Degree – D Felony
- NYS Penal Law 165.50 Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree – D Felony
- NYS Penal Law 145.10 Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree – D Felony
- NYS Penal Law 205.30 Resisting Arrest – A Misdemeanor
- The Male passenger was charged with:
- NYS Penal Law 165.50 Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree – D Felony
- NYS Penal Law 205.30 Resisting Arrest – A Misdemeanor
- The Female Passenger was charged with:
- NYS Penal Law 165.50 Criminal Possession of Stolen Property – D Felony.
All suspects have a return date for Family Court on May 11th, 2023.
