The City of New Rochelle’s annual Arbor Day ceremony was held Friday, April 26 at the entrance to the Causeway between the Twin Lakes at the New Rochelle High School. Two cherry were planted, honoring both Arbor Day and the 325th Anniversary of New Rochelle. Cherry trees have been historically planted in that area since the early 1900's. The trees were planted by the City of New Rochelle and by the Interreligious Council of New Rochelle. Attending the ceremony were Mayor Noam Bramson, Historian Barbara Davis, Father Robert Gahler, Chair of the Interreligious Council of New Rochelle, Sustainability Coordinator Deborah Newborn, City Arborist Paul Rebholz, 325th Anniversary Committee Members, City and School District officials, and New Rochelle High School students.
