Additionally, as part of a joint inter-municipal agreement, the City of New Rochelle will serve as lead agency for the road resurfacing projects of neighboring communities. The agreement between New Rochelle and Pelham, Pelham Manor, Mamaroneck Village and Town, and Larchmont enables these smaller municipalities to take advantage of competitive volume pricing through bidding as a whole rather than individually.
“Joint agreements such as these are win-win all around,” said City Manager Charles B. Strome, III. “By combining our projects into one bid, we will each reap the benefits of lower costs, and can then apply those savings to upgrade more roadways.” Under the agreement, each community will be responsible for the payment to the contractor based upon their respective volume. In addition, the municipalities will reimburse the City of New Rochelle for engineering services conducted on the community’s behalf.
