[ARCHIVED] Road Resurfacing Begins July 23

2013 Road Resurfacing Begins July 23
City is Lead Agency for Joint Agreement with Sound Shore Communities

The City of New Rochelle's annual road resurfacing program begins next week with milling and paving operations on the following streets as conditions permit:

7/23/13- Milling in the following order:
Wildcliff Drive (from Hudson Park Road- private property lines); Fairview Place (entire); South Division Street (from Main Street to Davis Ave).

7/24/13- Milling in the following order:
Washington Ave (from 1st Street to 7th Street); Glenwood Place (entire)

7/25/13- Paving in the following order: Wildcliff, Fairview, So. Division Street

7/26/13- Paving in the following order: Washington Ave, Glenwood Pl

Additionally, as part of a joint inter-municipal agreement, the City of New Rochelle will serve as lead agency for the road resurfacing projects of neighboring communities. The agreement between New Rochelle and Pelham, Pelham Manor, Mamaroneck Village and Town, and Larchmont enables these smaller municipalities to take advantage of competitive volume pricing through bidding as a whole rather than individually.

“Joint agreements such as these are win-win all around,” said City Manager Charles B. Strome, III. “By combining our projects into one bid, we will each reap the benefits of lower costs, and can then apply those savings to upgrade more roadways.” Under the agreement, each community will be responsible for the payment to the contractor based upon their respective volume. In addition, the municipalities will reimburse the City of New Rochelle for engineering services conducted on the community’s behalf.
