[ARCHIVED] Take New Rochelle’s Branding Survey

What do you love about New Rochelle--and what would you want to improve? Take the survey!

The City of New Rochelle has teamed up with North Star Destination Strategies to discover, define and design the City’s “brand”--our unique marketplace advantages to attract businesses, residents and visitors in 2015 and beyond. After a series of public and visioning meetings in September, North Star has compiled a 25-question survey and invites all who live and work in the City to give input.

“One of the best places to find that figurative nugget of marketing gold is in the hearts and minds of the people who call New Rochelle home,” said North Star CEO Don McEachern. “To learn what makes a community special, you have to go to the people who spend more than just their money and time there--you have to go to the people who spend their lives there.” North Star has helped develop brands for more than two hundred cities, regions, communities and municipalities nationwide.

New Rochelle’s Community Survey has been carefully crafted to determine the City’s strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities. The survey can be completed and submitted two ways: online at www.newrochelleny.com/branding, and in hard copy at the City Clerk’s Office at 515 North Avenue and at the New Rochelle Public Library Circulation Desk. Surveys must be completed by December 14.

"An effective branding and marketing strategy could be a huge boost for New Rochelle's economy, property values, and civic image,” said New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson. “But getting it right depends on public involvement, so I urge residents and business owners to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share their thoughts about what our community is today…and what it can be tomorrow."

The City’s initiative is funded in partnership with the New Rochelle Industrial Development Agency (IDA). IDA Chair Marianne Sussman noted, “We are often challenged to communicate adequately our city’s unique characteristics--from our waterfront and strategic location, to our diversity of commercial and residential properties, to our parks and arts, restaurants and cultural offerings. The IDA has therefore contributed major funding to this effort as a priority in solidifying our standing in the marketplace and fostering our economic development.”

The survey is part of an integrated process that includes research, strategy and creative development that will conclude in early 2015.
