[ARCHIVED] New Rochelle Public Library hosts Exhibit for Memorial Day Observances

A Memorial Tribute to the New Rochelle residents who made the Supreme Sacrifice while in active duty will be on display at the New Rochelle Public Library from Friday, May 27th through Friday, June 3rd, during regular library hours. Special viewing of the exhibit will also be made possible on Monday, May 30th immediately following the Memorial Day ceremonies at Memorial Plaza, which will begin at 10:00 am. The public may enter the library’s Memorial Highway entrance to see the exhibit on view in the library’s lobby. The library will otherwise be closed on Sunday, May 29th and Monday, May 30th.
In memory of the New Rochelle residents who gave their lives in active duty while serving in in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the War in Afghanistan, the exhibit includes the names of all the heroes and as many of their photographs as have become available. The exhibit was assembled by Eugene Longhi, American Legion Post #8 Historian, working in conjunction with Barbara Davis, City Historian, and NRPL staff and volunteers. The exhibit panels were designed by Jesse Sanchez, and were made possible by a grant from the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library.
